The developer wanted to create a feeling of an oasis and something exotic and visually exciting. My design includes a variety of palms, flaxes, aralia and grasses.
Liberty Bay Residential Landscape
Situated on a gentle slope adjacent to a salt-water wetland and lagoon this project utilized salt-tolerant species such as seashore saltgrass and other natives such as nootka rose, snowberry, and swamp rose. Trees include corkscrew willows, and serviceberry, while closer to the residence beneath the existing canopy emerge fullmoon maples, rhododendrons, azalea and ferns.
This whimsical little cottage acts as a private retreat for the homeowner to get away and work on her craft projects. I designed it as a tribute to the owner's sister, Lisa, who loved rabbits. The steep pitched roof, scalloped shingle siding, railing are all features intended to evoke childhood memories of Peter Cottontail and similar stories.
Miller Bay Residential Landscape
This is a corner lot overlooking a beautiful bay. The owners wanted privacy and a park-like experience. In time the perimeter will fill in creating complete screening throughout with the exception of the view. To give the feeling of a park there are multiple levels and paths connecting a variety of seating areas; some large patios as well as small intimate places to gather beneath large existing Madronas or nestled against a backdrop of cedar and fir.
A small garden and sitting area set comfortably beneath a unique pergola of redwood, stucco and stone. These clients wanted a big impact in a small space.
One of our design/build projects, this landscape was designed as an oasis for the owner to relax and enjoy year-round. The pool and front landscape installation is by others, the overall design and installation is ours.
Mt. Taylor Residential Landscape
A residential landscape design and installation in Sonoma County, California.
This is another design/build project in Marin County, California. The owner wanted something interesting and unique with smooth transitions from the backdoor down into the yard. It is a small, intimate area but with plenty of interest and various areas to enjoy.
This Marin County California backyard was designed to appeal to the owner’s desire for bold foliage and a throwback to the ‘50s. I took an iconic image from that decade, the boomerang shape, and pressed these into the concrete patio and tiled the patterns.
In collaboration with the landscape contractor to coordinate the native, natural surroundings with the more formalized front entry. The stone footbridge provides a link from the lawn into the woods. The waterfeature also provides a great way to trap and treat surface water runoff.
These photos show details of some additional completed commercial and residential design projects of ours which resulted from our construction documents for residential home construction, landscape plans for condominium projects, design/build landscape projects, hardscape details and planting plans.
